  1. Marta

Very good training, lots of detailed information and working with the online training materials means I could do it in my own time. I recommend this format of training, it works well.

    • paul

Thanks Marta! It has been a pleasure working with you. Kind regards, Paul.

  2. Roxanne

A thorough course, with all necessary themes covered. It’s easy to follow. In comparison to the in-person few days course with a lecturer – here you can pause, rewind and go through sections which are harder in your own pace and as many times as you need. I actually got a better result with this, studying at home on my own than with a in-person 3-day course in Heathrow. I sat 3 DG shipper exams by now.

    • paul

Thanks for the great feedback Roxanne! We look forward to welcoming you back for your next revalidation training.

  3. Nicola Kaye

A flexible way to re-validate my training around my other work commitments, meaning I didn’t need to take 3 days away from the office. The course is well structured, and being able to pause and re-play the videos allows you to double-check anything covered on the course quickly.

Having held the IATA previously, as well as being a DGSA for ADR purposes, this flexibility is ideal, especially if you need a more extended break to properly read and understand topics in more detail than you generally get at in-person courses, where you have to go at the trainer’s pace.

    Definitely recommend

  4. Simon Otter

    Excellent course and service

  5. Diane

I found doing the online course a lot better than having to actually sit in a hotel because you can take your time with the modules and make sure that you have covered everything ready for the actual exam. I hope that this will continue in the future.

  6. Susan Cartman

Extremely thorough training course. After over 30 years of attending classroom-based training, and my attention span on computer-based training quite short! once I got my head focused on the online training, I found it a pleasure, with no interruptions during, unlike the classroom-based course, along with being able to do the training at your own pace. Extremely well put together, and Lisa provided full information prior to training commencing, along taking the examination.

Would definitely recommend to anyone wishing to switch from classroom-based training to online. Thank you both very much.

    • paul

Thanks so much Susan for your kind words! It was a pleasure to work with you and we look forward to seeing you again in 2024.

  7. Oksana Polyakova

I have done 3 exams with DGOnline (all pass). I particularly like the traning materias where you go through difficult parts again once you have completed the course and you can study when you have time. It’s very flexible. The exam availablity is great. You can sit it at home or in the office. You know the results next day after you post your paper.

    • paul

Many thanks for the positive feedback and well done for an excellent score in the examination!

Being able to complete the course in my own time made the whole process much less stressful. I found it particularly helpful that I could revisit areas I struggled with.
The application itself is easy to use, and the assessments throughout the course are very good for consolidating your learning. The course books and exam books were also a great help when it came to preparing for the exam.
Paul and Lisa were also extremely helpful whenever I needed support or had any questions.

7.1 – Personnel preparing dangerous goods consignments – REVALIDATION

In 5 Simple Steps

Once you have selected your course you can book online via our shop.  You can then access the course, repeat the modules as many times as you like and email or book appointments with our trainers to get one-to-one help if you get stuck.

Some courses require an invigilated exam in order to attain certification and some can be completed and assessed entirely online. Additionally, some courses require the use of an IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations book.  If you don’t have one, they can be bought or rented from us.

These are challenging courses which include interactive questions and completing real life shipper’s declarations and airline acceptance checklists.  To ensure you are prepared for the invigilated exams, an average mark of 80% must be achieved with the online modules before an invigilated exam can be booked, hence some modules may need to be repeated in order to improve competence.

  • Purchase the course you require, making payment by Debit or Credit Card online using you preferred currency (GBP/EUR/USD).
  • You will receive an email confirming your order and will be asked to confirm student names and email addresses.
  • Open the link sent via email, you must then download and print off the PDF workbook which will assist your learning.
  • For 7.1 (including lithium batteries) and 7.3 you must have access to the current IATA DGR. This must be a paper copy. Remember you can either rent or buy a copy from Dangerous Goods Online Limited.
  • Ensure your computer is using Chrome and has an audio output.
  • Have somewhere quiet to work.

Depending on how much experience you have depends on the length of time to successfully complete the course. We recommend that you work on the training little and often such as 2 hours per day. You can retake the modules as many times as you would like to ensure you have a deep level understanding of what is required. You will have access to the online training for a maximum period of 12 weeks.

Work through the modules and course exercises as many times as you feel you need to. Ensure you are scoring at least 80% on each module which will give you the best opportunity at being successful in the examination.

For courses not requiring an invigilated examination, students will complete an online examination. If successful, a PDF certificate can be downloaded.

Once you have completed the course successfully, with a minimum of 80% in each module, we will contact you to arrange the remotely invigilated 1:1 examination. For customers outside of the United Kingdom, there will be an additional charge for courier fees.

Continue to revise the modules and work through the examination practice paper that we provide you with whilst you are waiting for the examination date.

Examinations for courses requiring invigilation are conducted remotely on a 1:1 basis with one of our invigilators. Strict examination conditions are in place and candidates will be asked to sign a declaration in advance to confirm their adherence to our terms and conditions. The examination is not confirmed until the terms and conditions are signed.

If there is any suspicion of cheating, recording with external devices or the use of AI, the invigilator may activate recording of the remote invigilation and cancel the session. A report may be filed with the UK Civil Aviation Authority for serious breaches of our terms and conditions.

Once the examination paper has been returned to us, electronic feedback and a certificate will be emailed within 5 working days of receipt unless otherwise notified. (This excludes UK public holidays).

FAQ's

To undertake a remotely invigilated examination, you will require the following:

  • WiFi connection
  • Photo ID ready to show the invigilator via the webcam
  • A current edition of the IATA DGR (physical copy)
  • A calculator (mobile phones are not permitted for use during the examination)
  • A computer with a webcam and a mobile phone with camera facilities, both with charging cables, plugged in and turned on. Please ensure virtual backgrounds are not used
  • A quite room (at work or home)

Further instructions will be provided in advance of the examination.

An IATA DGR (either your own or one that you have rented from us), photo ID in the form of either a driving licence or passport. We will provide you with a calculator and pen.  The examination is considered ‘open book’ and therefore the candidates should have unrestricted access to the required IATA DGR.

Depending on how much experience you have depends on the length of time to successfully complete the course.

For courses that do not require a 1:1 invigilation these can be completed within an average time of 4 hours. Access is given for 12 weeks.

For courses requiring a 1:1 invigilation, we recommend that you work on the training little and often, up to 3 hours per day. You can retake the modules as many times as you would like to ensure you have a deep level understanding of how to use the regulations. We expect the examination and training course to be completed within 12 weeks.

Please contact one of our experienced trainers on info@dgonline.training who will be happy to assist.

Please refer to the PDF workbook that is downloadable at the beginning of the training. We will also send you a practice examination booklet once the training has been completed.

There is a cancellation fee of £100.00+VAT which will be payable if an examination is cancelled within a defined period of 5 working days or less.

The examination is regulated by the UK Civil Aviation Authority. The time permitted is a maximum of three hours.

We give you access to the online training for 12 weeks from the date of purchase. If you are struggling to complete the training modules in this time frame, additional access can be purchased on our website at the following link

There is no limit on the number of times you can work through the modules. You must score at least 80% at the end of each to ensure you are maximising the possibility of passing the examination.

Once you have completed the training successfully, we will contact you via email with examination date availability. There is an expectation that the examination is completed within 12 weeks of course signup.

Yes, you may. Remember the examination is not a test of memory, it is to ensure you can navigate your way through the IATA DGR competently.

Assuming you have referenced the PDF workbook, your next port of call is to contact one of our experienced trainers at info@dgonline.training

The training is suitable for students without any previous experience. There are a number of exercises to complete as you go through the training which help to prepare you for the examination. After completing each section of the course, you are provided with a grade. We recommend you retake the section if you do not achieve a score of 80% or more, as this is the minimum grade required to pass the final examination. There is no limit to the number of times you retake each section.

If you are revalidating your current certificate, we will request to see a copy of this before the course is allocated to you.

For courses not requiring an invigilated examination, results are provided immediately upon completion of the online test.

For those courses requiring an invigilated examination, once the paper has been returned via our courier service, the exam paper is marked. If you successfully achieve a grade of 80% or more, a certificate, showing our training is approved by the UK Civil Aviation Authority, will be awarded. For those who have purchased an IATA certificate, this will be submitted to IATA for processing.  Electronic feedback will be given to all candidates showing areas of development and strength. Examination results are given within 5 working days unless otherwise informed. (Excluding UK public holidays and weekends).

The primary focus of the training is to teach students how to navigate the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations. A copy is also required to complete the examination. If you do not own a copy of the current edition of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, we can either sell you a copy at the current market rate or we offer a rental option. For the rental option, we generally take a deposit for the full price of the regulations. This will be refunded after the book is returned minus a weekly hire fee. The current rate is £10.00 per week. The rental fee helps us to offset the cost of the books and to keep the price of the training as low as possible.

The course is managed with a series of modules, with a number of written exercises to be completed at the end of each one. You must score at least 80% on each module before you move on. The training becomes gradually more challenging and a firm understanding is required before you progress.  There is no limit to the number of times you can work through each module.

Check the following:

  • Use a Chrome browser.  Internet Explorer creates issues particularly with older versions.
  • Are you using one window to run the course? Running multiple windows will automatically cause the course to stop recording progress.
  • Always close the course browser window and log out from the Learning Management System (LMS) when taking a break from the course.
  • Change computer.  Virus software on the specific computer can interrupt the running if the course.
  • Change network.  Security settings on company servers can cause issues with the course.
  • Use an incognito window. To do this, you should open an incognito tab in Chrome by clicking on File and then selecting New Incognito Window, once that is done you can login to the LMS using this window and access the content to see if it behaves in the same way.  The reason why we suggest this is because opening an incognito tab strips out any browser plug-ins or default settings which may interfere with the functionality of online content in the browser.

  • Have a computer with an internet connection and audio output.
  • Ensure you are in an appropriate surrounding environment to complete the course materials. Ideally this will be a quiet environment free from distractions.
  • Access to a copy of the latest version of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations.
  • A printed copy of the course notes. These can be downloaded and printed from the course. Instructions are shown at the very beginning of the course.
  • A calculator and a ruler.
  • Notepaper.  We recommend making your own notes in addition to the accompanying course notes; these can be taken into the examination.

Once you have successfully completed all the modules, with a score of at least 80% in each, we will email you with a series of dates that are available for your remotely invigilated 1:1 examination. If you wish to attend a more bespoke examination centre, please contact us to make arrangements and discuss the additional costings for this.
