This course is for personnel including freight forwarders, operator’s and ground handling agent’s staff, responsible for handling cargo in a warehouse, loading and unloading Unit Load Devices (ULD) and loading and unloading passenger baggage, mail and aircraft cargo compartments.

7.4 (H.6.4) – Personnel Responsible for Handling Cargo in a Warehouse, Loading and Unloading Unit Load Devices and Loading and Unloading Aircraft Cargo Compartments

Description

The IATA Category 8 training course is designed for operator’s and ground handling agent’s staff involved in the handling, storage and loading of cargo or mail and baggage. The training course can be undertaken in your own time at your own pace. The training course includes the following sections of the dangerous goods regulations:

  • General philosophy
  • Limitations
  • Labelling and marking
  • Recognition of undeclared dangerous goods
  • Storage and loading procedures
  • Pilots’ notification
  • Provisions for passengers and crew
  • Emergency procedures

The course consists of modules where students are required to complete a number of exercises achieving a score of at least 80%. Once the course is completed to a satisfactory level, students will be enrolled onto an online exam. Following successful completion of the examination, students will be issued with a training certificate valid for 24 months.
