Once you have selected your course you can book online via our shop. You can then access the course, repeat the modules as many times as you like and email or book appointments with our trainers to get one-to-one help if you get stuck.
Some courses require an invigilated exam in order to attain certification and some can be completed and assessed entirely online. Additionally, some courses require the use of an IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations book. If you don’t have one, they can be bought or rented from us.
These are challenging courses which include interactive questions and completing real life shipper’s declarations and airline acceptance checklists. To ensure you are prepared for the invigilated exams, an average mark of 80% must be achieved with the online modules before an invigilated exam can be booked, hence some modules may need to be repeated in order to improve competence.
Depending on how much experience you have depends on the length of time to successfully complete the course. We recommend that you work on the training little and often such as 2 hours per day. You can retake the modules as many times as you would like to ensure you have a deep level understanding of what is required. You will have access to the online training for a maximum period of 12 weeks.
Work through the modules and course exercises as many times as you feel you need to. Ensure you are scoring at least 80% on each module which will give you the best opportunity at being successful in the examination.Â
For courses not requiring an invigilated examination, students will complete an online examination. If successful, a PDF certificate can be downloaded.
Once you have completed the course successfully, with a minimum of 80% in each module, we will contact you to arrange the remotely invigilated 1:1 examination. For customers outside of the United Kingdom, there will be an additional charge for courier fees.Â
Continue to revise the modules and work through the examination practice paper that we provide you with whilst you are waiting for the examination date.
Examinations for courses requiring invigilation are conducted remotely on a 1:1 basis with one of our invigilators. Strict examination conditions are in place and candidates will be asked to sign a declaration in advance to confirm their adherence to our terms and conditions. The examination is not confirmed until the terms and conditions are signed.Â
If there is any suspicion of cheating, recording with external devices or the use of AI, the invigilator may activate recording of the remote invigilation and cancel the session. A report may be filed with the UK Civil Aviation Authority for serious breaches of our terms and conditions.
Once the examination paper has been returned to us, electronic feedback and a certificate will be emailed within 5 working days of receipt unless otherwise notified. (This excludes UK public holidays).Â
To undertake a remotely invigilated examination, you will require the following:
Further instructions will be provided in advance of the examination.
The course is managed with a series of modules, with a number of written exercises to be completed at the end of each one. You must score at least 80% on each module before you move on. The training becomes gradually more challenging and a firm understanding is required before you progress. There is no limit to the number of times you can work through each module.
For courses not requiring an invigilated examination, results are provided immediately upon completion of the online test.
For those courses requiring an invigilated examination, once the paper has been returned via our courier service, the exam paper is marked. If you successfully achieve a grade of 80% or more, a certificate, showing our training is approved by the UK Civil Aviation Authority, will be awarded. For those who have purchased an IATA certificate, this will be submitted to IATA for processing. Electronic feedback will be given to all candidates showing areas of development and strength. Examination results are given within 5 working days unless otherwise informed. (Excluding UK public holidays and weekends).

Yes, you may. Remember the examination is not a test of memory, it is to ensure you can navigate your way through the IATA DGR competently.
Once you have completed the training successfully, we will contact you via email with examination date availability. There is an expectation that the examination is completed within 12 weeks of course signup.
There is no limit on the number of times you can work through the modules. You must score at least 80% at the end of each to ensure you are maximising the possibility of passing the examination.
We give you access to the online training for 12 weeks from the date of purchase. If you are struggling to complete the training modules in this time frame, additional access can be purchased on our website at the following link.Â
The examination is regulated by the UK Civil Aviation Authority. The time permitted is a maximum of three hours.
There is a cancellation fee of £100.00+VAT which will be payable if an examination is cancelled within a defined period of 5 working days or less.Â
Please refer to the PDF workbook that is downloadable at the beginning of the training. We will also send you a practice examination booklet once the training has been completed.
Please contact one of our experienced trainers on info@dgonline.training who will be happy to assist.
Depending on how much experience you have depends on the length of time to successfully complete the course.
For courses that do not require a 1:1 invigilation these can be completed within an average time of 4 hours. Access is given for 12 weeks.Â
For courses requiring a 1:1 invigilation, we recommend that you work on the training little and often, up to 3 hours per day. You can retake the modules as many times as you would like to ensure you have a deep level understanding of how to use the regulations. We expect the examination and training course to be completed within 12 weeks.Â
An IATA DGR (either your own or one that you have rented from us), photo ID in the form of either a driving licence or passport. We will provide you with a calculator and pen.  The examination is considered ‘open book’ and therefore the candidates should have unrestricted access to the required IATA DGR.
Once you have successfully completed all the modules, with a score of at least 80% in each, we will email you with a series of dates that are available for your remotely invigilated 1:1 examination. If you wish to attend a more bespoke examination centre, please contact us to make arrangements and discuss the additional costings for this.
Check the following:
The primary focus of the training is to teach students how to navigate the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations. A copy is also required to complete the examination. If you do not own a copy of the current edition of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, we can either sell you a copy at the current market rate or we offer a rental option. For the rental option, we generally take a deposit for the full price of the regulations. This will be refunded after the book is returned minus a weekly hire fee. The current rate is £10.00 per week. The rental fee helps us to offset the cost of the books and to keep the price of the training as low as possible.
The training is suitable for students without any previous experience. There are a number of exercises to complete as you go through the training which help to prepare you for the examination. After completing each section of the course, you are provided with a grade. We recommend you retake the section if you do not achieve a score of 80% or more, as this is the minimum grade required to pass the final examination. There is no limit to the number of times you retake each section.
If you are revalidating your current certificate, we will request to see a copy of this before the course is allocated to you.
To celebrate being awarded the IATA Competency Training & Assessment Centre accreditation, we are offering a 10% discount off all our dangerous goods by air training courses.
