Load Planners Dangerous Goods Training

Load planners determine where every item of cargo — including dangerous goods — is positioned on the aircraft before loading begins. Their decisions about segregation, restraint, and weight distribution directly affect flight safety. A load planner who fails to separate incompatible hazard classes or who positions dangerous goods in a way that prevents access during an in-flight emergency creates a risk that cannot be corrected once the aircraft is airborne.

Our training for load planners addresses IATA DGR Table 1.5.A, function 7.6 — the competencies required for personnel who plan aircraft loading. Courses cover:

– Applying segregation requirements between incompatible hazard classes when planning aircraft loading
– Understanding stowage restrictions — which dangerous goods must be accessible during flight, which require cargo compartment ventilation, and which are restricted to specific aircraft types
– Weight and balance considerations for dangerous goods consignments, particularly heavy single packages
– The relationship between the load plan and the NOTOC (Notification to Captain)
– Special loading requirements for radioactive materials, infectious substances, and lithium batteries
– Verifying that the load plan complies with both the IATA DGR and the operator’s specific dangerous goods procedures before it is handed to loading staff

All courses are CAA approved, delivered online, with remote examination. Load planners can complete their training at their own pace, without time away from operations.
