Flight Crew Dangerous Goods Training

Flight crew — pilots and flight deck officers — carry ultimate responsibility for the safety of the aircraft, its passengers, and its cargo. When dangerous goods are on board, the flight crew must be aware of what is being carried, where it is stowed, and what to do in the event of an incident. The NOTOC (Notification to Captain) is the flight crew’s critical reference document, and understanding it correctly is a regulatory requirement for every commercial flight carrying dangerous goods.

Our flight crew training addresses IATA DGR Table 1.5.A, functions 7.6 and 7.7 — covering the competencies required for personnel responsible for planning aircraft loading and for flight crew members. Courses address:

– Interpreting the NOTOC — understanding what each entry means, where each consignment is stowed, and what the emergency response drill codes indicate
– The flight crew’s responsibilities under the operator’s dangerous goods approval and the ICAO Technical Instructions
– In-flight emergency procedures for dangerous goods incidents, including fire, smoke, fumes, spillage, and leakage
– Communicating with air traffic control and ground-based emergency services during a dangerous goods incident
– Understanding segregation and stowage requirements from a flight planning perspective
– Pre-flight checks relating to dangerous goods acceptance and loading

All courses are CAA approved, delivered online, self-paced, with remote examination. Training can be completed around flying schedules without the need for classroom attendance.
